Caroline Pines had a water emergency Wednesday night, Feb. 4, when a leak of unknown origin caused an almost complete loss of water pressure, reported John Bowers, vice president of the Property Owners Association.

He credited a quick response by Supervisor Maxie Rozell, who was on the scene, and a crew from Public Works working into the night on the pumps, averting the need for residents to boil water.

Caroline Pines and been working with the county to connect their water system to the Caroline water system. Bowers said he hopes the Board of Supervisors approves the measure by spring or summer, and Caroline Pines will no longer have to rely on the 1970s private well system.

"Preliminary financial analysis has shown that the cost of running a 12-inch water line to Caroline Pines from Carmel Church to the existing system will be covered by the payment of the current connection fee ($2,800 per home) by the Caroline Pines residents," said Bowers.
