Caroline 2010 Census Kicks
Off Under Chilly Conditions

Caroline County’s 2010 Census effort kicked off Tuesday afternoon under chilly conditions.

The event was held at the Food Lion Shopping Plaza in Bowling Green and was part of a national effort to raise awareness of the importance of the 2010 Census. On hand was the US Census Bureau’s traveling caravan and that shared information with the public that was in attendance.

Remarks were offered by Maxie Rozell, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors and Bowling Green Mayor David Storke. Also called to speak were Rev. Wendell Sims, Vice Chairman of the Public School Division and Isabel Almandarez, representative from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Political hymns were sung by Kenneth Paige and the Rev. Kevin Moen offered the invocation.

The Ladysmith Rescue Auxiliary donated hot dogs and beverages for the event.

Each speaker stressed the importance of Caroline County getting every resident counted. Billions are dollars are missed by localities because they fail to accurately count their residents during the census period.
