The Caroline County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting Jan. 25. The guest speaker will be Caroline County native Tony Beasley, who recently was named coach of the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. In his return to the Nationals organization last season, Beasley guided the Double-A Harrisburg Senators to the Eastern League playoffs.
Before returning go the Nationals organization for the 2011 season, Beasley was on the staff of the Pittsburgh Pirates for three seasons, including a stint as third base coach. He also spent five years managing in the Pirates' Minor League system. Beasley was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 19th round of the 1989 draft and played nine years in the Orioles and Pirates organizations.
The chamber event will be held at the Ladysmith Village clubhouse. It will begin with a social at 5:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting, which will include installation of officers.
