County Fair Recognized for Communications
From The Caroline Progress

Members of the Caroline County Agricultural Fair Association attended the Virginia Association of Fair Convention at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs recently and came home with awards recognizing the fair's communications program.

The Caroline County Fair was recognized for entries submitted in the communication contests for the medium fair category, which includes fairs with attendance of 7,000 to 30,000 people. This is the first year the Caroline County Fair has been in the medium category, which put it into competition with 12 other fairs of similar size.

The Caroline County Fair won six awards: one for first place, three for second place, and two for third place. The Caroline County Fair earned a first place ribbon for advertising merchandise display. This display included the varied items that had been used to advertise the fair, such as a tote bag, mug, postcard, shirts, hats and window decals. Second place ribbons were awarded for the fair brochure created by Ileane DeLoach of Page Designs and Printing, a special tabloid insert in The Caroline Progress, and an article in "Cooperative Living" magazine.

Third place ribbons were awarded for the New Age Scrapbook by Sylvia Tate and the billboard picture by Debbie Wright. Representing the association at this year's convention Jan. 6-8 were Mack and Debbie Wright, Sylvia and Herbert Tate, Wick and Debbie Coleman, Macine Williams, and Fran Whittaker.
