Permanent County Decals on Sale
The Caroline County Permanent Vehicle Decals are on sale in the Caroline County Treasurer’s office.
2011 is the last year that ALL Caroline County residents will need to purchase a county decal. Decals obtained this year for cars, trucks and motorcycles will remain valid as long as the vehicle is owned by the purchaser. Beginning January 1, 2012, the vehicle registration fee will be assessed and payable with the first half personal property tax bill due June 5, 2012.
The permanent decal must be purchased and displayed by March 31, 2011. Residents that purchase a new vehicle must obtain a permanent decal within ten days of the purchase.
Decal fees for automobiles and trucks will be $30.00 while motorcycle decals will cost $25.00. Decals for trailers are no longer required. Exemptions may apply for some farm vehicles, disabled veterans, military personnel, fire and rescue personnel, and law enforcement personnel.
Decal applications have been mailed to all county residents on record as of January 1, 2011. Residents with remaining personal property taxes that must be paid prior to decals being sold will also receive an application with the notation “taxes due”.
New residents can purchase their decals in the Treasurer’s office or online by clicking “e-treasurer” at www.visitcaroline.com and following the instructions to purchase vehicle decals –add new vehicle.
The Treasurer’s office is located on the first floor of the County Administration Building, 212 N. Main St, in Bowling Green and is open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Residents of the Town of Bowling Green or the Town of Port Royal will still purchase town vehicle decals through their offices.
