CAROLINE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 103, ARTICLE V OF THE CODE OF CAROLINE COUNTY (VEHICLE LICENSE TAX)
The Caroline County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, beginning at 7:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Community Services Center Auditorium, located at 17202 Richmond Turnpike, Milford, Virginia, to consider an amendment to Chapter 103, Article V, Section 103-25 of the Code of Caroline County.
The purpose of the proposed amendments is to consider the following changes to the application of the vehicle license tax:
Specify that only vehicles operated on the streets, highways and roads of the county must be licensed (currently, the vehicle license fee applies to any vehicle normally garaged, stored or parked within the county); and
Allow a vehicle license to be transferred at no cost from a previously licensed vehicle to a newly acquired vehicle. The previously licensed vehicle must be sold, disposed of or deregistered by either surrendering or transferring the registration (and making application to the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office within 10 business days).
Any person desiring to be heard in favor of or in opposition to the proposed amendments is hereby invited to be present at the public hearing. Those citizens with special needs are asked to contact County Administration at (804) 633-5380 at least 5 days prior to the hearing. A copy of the full text of the proposed ordinance amendment is on file in the office of the County Administrator at 212 North Main Street, Bowling Green, Virginia 22427 and on the County website here.
