On a sweltering Monday afternoon in July, Barbara Hutniczak, and three unsuspecting travel companions arrived at the Caroline County Visitor Center for a quick break before reaching I-95. Traveling to South Carolina and then on to the Florida Keys for an extended vacation, this well-traveled group from Poland and Sweden were enjoying their leisurely drive south.They had no idea they would become instant celebrities! In celebration of the 100,000th visitor, the group received a Caroline County Gift Bag comprised of local and state souvenir items worth approximately $50.00. In addition, the group was treated to a $100.00 shopping spree in the Crafter’s of Caroline Gift Shop located at the Visitor Center.
During their visit, Travel Counselor Ms. Peggy Smith entertained the group with facts about the County, Visitor Center, Whale, Secretariat, and of course showcased the local talent of all the crafters in the Gift Shop. The group had heard of the renowned racehorse Secretariat and were particularly interested in the information on the horse and the former Meadow Farm of Caroline County.
Not to be forgotten—Glen, their traveling pink inflatable guitar also pictured has traveled extensively throughout Europe and truly enjoyed the stop in Caroline County! Located at on I-95 at Exit 104, the Caroline County Visitor Center is focused onproviding information about the business base of the County and providing valuedtravel information for the customer.
