A Memorial Day Celebration was held to recognize local veterans and to dedicate a Memorial Plaque on Monday, May 27 at Bowling Green Town Hall. Presentation of Colors was presented by the Caroline County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard. Reverend Howard Satterwhite, Ret., from Hopewell United Methodist Church gave the Invocation. County Line Baptist Church Choir sang the National Anthem. VFW Post 10295 Commander, Ms. Gerry Gunn, gave the welcome and made introductions. The keynote address was given by Lt. Michael E. Gates, Garrison Commander, Fort A.P. Hill. Certificates and Pins were presented to Gold Star Families, World War II Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, and other Veterans and Active Duty Service Members. The Honorable Clayton T. Forehand, Chairman of the Caroline County Board of Supervisors dedicated a Veterans Plaque in honor of the men and women of Caroline County who served their Country during the wars and conflicts after the Vietnam Era. The following gave their lives in the line of duty: Michael N. "Chip" Manns, Jr. - Desert Shield - 1990, Stacey Allen Mills - Persian Gulf Veteran - 1992.
