At its October 8th meeting, the Board of Supervisors recognized members of the Caroline County Department of Fire & Rescue grant writing team that secured a $904,586.36 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to purchase replacement self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) equipment. SCBA is a device worn by rescue workers, firefighters and others to provide breathable air in an immediately dangerous to life or health atmosphere. The grant will provide the large majority of the estimated $1,000,000 plus needed to replace the County’s current SCBA inventory, which is nearing the end of its useful life.
