BOARD OF SUPERVISORS EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR REAL ESTATE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FIRST HALF TAX PAYMENTS TO JUNE 15, 2020
Interest and Penalties on Late Payments Deferred
At its April 14, 2020 meeting, the Caroline County Board of Supervisors adopted an emergency ordinance to defer the due date for 2020 first half real estate and personal property tax payments by ten days to June 15 in response to the COVID-19 related downturn in the economy. In addition, no interest will be applied to late payments received by July 15, 2020. Following this date interest on late payments will return to 10% per year (or 0.8% per month). No penalties will be applied to late payments received by August 15, at which time the penalty will return to 10%.
Taxpayers with questions about first half real estate and personal property tax payments should contact Treasurer Elizabeth Curran by email or by phone at 804-633-5291.
