Public Notice Regarding Discussion of Proposed Changes to Hunting Ordinance for January 26, 2021 Board of Supervisors Meeting
At its January 26, 2021 meeting, the Board of Supervisors will conduct a first reading of a proposed ordinance to amend Chapter 56 of the Code of Caroline County (Hunting). The proposed amendments would allow hunting with rifles larger than .22 caliber under certain restrictions.
The discussion on January 26 is a first reading, not a public hearing. Under the Board’s 2021 Bylaws and Rules of Order, “there shall be no comments during the public comment period on a matter for which a public hearing is scheduled for the same meeting or for which a public hearing is likely to be scheduled within the next sixty (60) days.
A public hearing on the proposed ordinance amendment regarding hunting with rifles is anticipated to be scheduled within the next 60 days. Therefore, comments on this topic during the public comment period at the January 26, 2021 meeting will not be accepted.
All members of the public will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed ordinance during the public hearing. A notice of the public hearing will be advertised in The Free –Lance Star and posted on the Caroline County website at www.co.caroline.va.us. The County website will also include a copy of the proposed ordinance.
