Charles Culley, Jr. County Administrator

The first stages of construction have commenced for the Tractor Supply hardware business on the east side of Rt. 1, near Durrette Road in the Ladysmith Business Park. Site surveyors have marked boundaries, and heavy machinery is clearing the site.

It is estimated that the building will be completed, employees hired and trained, and doors open for business in the Summer of 2021. No date is set for a ribbon cutting, but it is hoped that COVID vaccinations will make such a public gathering safe later in the year.

Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Mr. Reginald L. Underwood for the Reedy Church District, stated: “The Board of Supervisors has supported this new business as a part of Caroline’s pro-business focus for smart growth that benefits not only Tractor Supply, but also opens up additional acreage in Ladysmith for more investment and jobs. We look forward to opening Tractor Supply this summer.”

Madison District Supervisor, Clay Forehand noted, “Tractor Supply is a great addition to Ladysmith’s business base. Keeping spending local, creating jobs, expanding County revenue, and adding shopping convenience for our citizens is a win for Caroline.”

The building is being constructed by The Keith Corporation, a retail site developer from Charlotte NC; and, the General Contractor is W. R. Newman, of Nashville Tennessee. Several local subcontractors have been selected to provide much of the work.

Tractor Supply is expected to construct a 20,000 square foot store that will employ approximately 20-25 employees making competitive wages and salaries.

Tractor Supply will invest $3.5 Million in the Ladysmith store.
