Shoulder Widening to Improve Safety on Several Routes in Caroline County

Weather permitting, widening work is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, March 29 on Route 652 (Signboard Road) in Caroline.
Once work is complete on Signboard Road, crews will widen the road shoulders along sections of the routes in Spotsylvania.

UPDATE: Route 17 to Reopen to Through Traffic in Caroline County

Route 17 (Tidewater Trail) in Caroline County will reopen to through traffic on Wednesday, March 3, at the site of an emergency road repair. A temporary traffic signal will control one-way, alternating traffic through the work zone.

Construction Begins on New Route 643 Bridge Over South River in Caroline December 28

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin construction of a new bridge on Route 743 (Clifton Road) over South River in Caroline County on Monday, Dec. 28. The project is expected to be complete in Oct. 2021.

Traffic Shift on Route 207 over the Mattaponi Bridge Beginning Tuesday, June 9

Demolition of the southbound bridge on Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) over the Mattaponi River in Caroline County is nearing with an upcoming traffic shift to reduce Route 207 from four travel lanes to two.
